Alloy 347 is a stable austenitic chromium steel containing niobium that eliminates carbide precipitation and thus intergranular corrosion.Alloy 347 is stabilized by addition of chromium and tantalum and provides higher creep and stress fracture properties than alloys 304 and 304L, which can also be used for exposure requiring attention to sensitization and intergranular corrosion.The addition of columbium also gives alloy 347 excellent corrosion resistance, even better than alloy 321.347H is the higher carbon content form of alloy 347 and shows improved high temperature and creep properties.

The Density of stainless steel 347 is 7.96 g/cm3 (0.288 lbs/in3). The Melting Range of stainless steel 347 is 1398 – 1446 °C (2550 – 2635 °F). The Rupture Strength of stainless steel 347 is 5510 - 5660 psi (38 - 39 MPa).
